CASE STUDY: Improving Candidate Conversion in TalentBrew (Proprietary Recruitment Platform & ATS) for Raytheon
At TMP Worldwide, I worked on digital strategy supporting recruitment marketing and applicant tracking system (ATS) experiences for enterprise clients, including Raytheon. The ATS served as a critical conversion point where candidates completed job applications after engaging with job ads and career sites.
Despite strong top-of-funnel performance (clicks and engagement), application completion rates were low.
Key issues identified:
High drop-off during the multi-step application process
Poor mobile experience for job applicants
Misalignment between job ad messaging and ATS landing experience
Lack of visibility into where users were abandoning the flow
If we improve the usability and continuity of the ATS experience, particularly simplifying the application flow and aligning messaging, application completion rates will increase.
Conducted funnel and behavioral analysis to identify drop-off points
Audited ATS UX across desktop and mobile
Mapped candidate journey from ad click → application completion
Partnered with UX, engineering, and media teams to align improvements
Streamlined application flow by reducing unnecessary steps and fields
Improved mobile responsiveness and usability
Aligned job ad messaging with ATS landing pages for consistency
Introduced clearer calls-to-action and progress indicators
Recommended tracking enhancements to better measure user behavior
Increased application completion rates (client-specific gains across accounts)
Reduced drop-off at key friction points in the funnel
Improved candidate experience across devices
Enabled better performance tracking for ongoing optimization
Application flows are highly sensitive to friction—every extra step matters
Consistency between entry point (ads) and product experience (ATS) is critical
Mobile-first optimization is essential for modern user behavior
Visibility into funnel data is foundational for product improvement
This work improved the effectiveness of ATS platforms as conversion tools, not just administrative systems, demonstrating how product thinking can directly impact hiring outcomes and business performance.
